jaded

a platform for AAPI Art & CULTURE in Pittsburgh & Beyond

“An enlivening, eclectic night. It meant so much to be part of an event that centered queer AAPI identity, especially in a Midwest city. They’re doing some amazing things here.”

T. Wan, D.J.

In Spring 2022, we launched JADED Presents…, a programming series that builds interethnic coalitions, create safe spaces of kinship, address racial trauma, and celebrate cultural heritage. Programming and intimate events aim to reanimate local histories, preserve cherished family recipes and practices, and nurture intergenerational dialogue.

KIN LAUNCHES IN 2023

get ready!

Our 2023 events include a film screening, Lunar New Year party, art exhibition, and writing workshop series. Plus, our team has added three new members whose work spans the visual and literary arts!

OUR ORIGIN

Our team first began organizing together through REST, a response to the mass shootings on March 16, 2021 in Atlanta, which targeted three Asian spas and massage parlors, leading to the deaths of eight victims (six of them Asian women).

Working with Sex Workers Outreach Project (SWOP) Pittsburgh and a coalition of allied organizations, we offered community members art workshops, yoga and qi gong classes, live music, and more from local artists and healers. The event took place at Carnegie Museum of Art on April 1, 2021 and raised over $8,000.
